Judith Souter has always loved to make music with her friends. A pupil at Chethams’ School of Music in Manchester, she became principal cellist and concerto soloist with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. After studying at the Royal Academy of Music, Jude was a founder member of the Medea String Quartet, who were prize-winners in the Shostakovich String Quartet Competition in St. Petersburg.
Jude loves to teach others to play the cello and adores making music with her cellist husband and 3 musical children. At Little Notes, you’ll also find her playing the piano, singing and strumming her ukulele and since settling back in Wales in 2011, Jude is delighted to have struck up some wonderful partnerships with other local musicians. The Iris Piano Quartet launched in November 2015 and Jude enjoys performing across the UK with the awesome ‘Sound of Wales’ collective.
Gifted with an infectious laugh Jude and her team-mate, Bart, she will always brighten up your day!

Described at a young age as an “observer,” Lizzie credits much of her growth in confidence both professionally and personally to her love for music making. Lizzie has just completed her undergraduate degree in piano studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama studying under Graham Caskie. With chamber work at the heart of her practice, she has thoroughly enjoyed the last four years working with valued colleagues on projects both inside and outside the college environment, most recently with conductor Tim Rhys Evans and the National Youth Choir of Wales and also regular performances with the charity Live Music Now. Alongside her growing performance career, Lizzie is a keen teacher and outreach practitioner and in her roles as co-leader of Cardiff Children’s Choir, workshop facilitator at Little Notes as well delivering 1:1 piano tuition to children across the county, Lizzie hopes to encourage a future generation of “observers” to become “participators” through their love of music. Let the new musical adventures commence – she can’t wait to meet you!

"Having live music played to an exceptionally high level on multiple instruments is simply unbeatable; we are all transfixed by the cello and I know from experience that this does not happen in other music groups aimed at children. I am convinced that Little Notes has contributed to my children's development and that they will benefit from this early introduction to live music."

Ellie

Cardiff

"I can genuinely say I love bringing my daughter to our weekly Little Notes class. From the very first session watching her and the other babies being absolutely mesmerised by Jude's cello, I knew the classes were something special. "

Carys

Cardiff

"Signing up for Little Notes has been one of the best developmental decisions I have made for my son. I wanted him to have more than the simple entertainment that is offered in many run-of-the-mill classes. I wanted him to see real musicians who play live music and who would expose him to much more. "

Miguel

"Judith Souter delivers her lessons with class, style and her whole heart. It's about time we had some high quality music classes! Thank you Little Notes."

Mary

"Our sessions with Jude and Bart are always a wonderful experience. They are imaginative, creative and always thoughtfully constructed. Our little boy now loves listening to music, sang before he talked and loves to play instruments at home. "

"The experiences my son has enjoyed at Little Notes have also helped with his counting, with listening skills, with learning how to share, how to tidy up and how to wait patiently. All of this is delivered with passion and huge commitment by Jude, who marries professionalism with a warmth that it so vital to working with young children."
